a 8.8kg object undergoes an acceleration of 2.2 meters per sonds squared what is the magnitude of the resulting force acting on it

F = m a

Force = (mass) (acceleration)

Force = (8.8 kg) (2.2 m/s²)

Force = (8.8/2.2) (kg-m/s²)

Force = 4 Newtons.

That's the force that MUST ACT on the 8.8 kg object IN ORDER TO make it accelerate it at the rate of 2.2 m/s² .  We don't know where the force comes from or what caused it.  It may not even be a single force.  It may be a whole bunch of forces that all add up to 4 Newtons in one direction.  We only know that if it were not there, then the object WOULD NOT accelerate at 2.2 m/s².
