A 4-year-old child is playing while the parent is watching television. after some time the child comes to the parent and says, "dad! anna broke the glass." there was nobody else in the house at that time. what should be the most appropriate response of the father?

“I only see you here. You are responsible for that.”

Imaginary friends are common and normal for preschoolers. It is not appropriate for parents to allow the child to use this friend to avoid responsibility. The father should state that he can only see his 4 year old and that the child is responsible for cleaning up.
