The judge called another witness for the prosecutors. This person was a co-worker of the defendant. They both worked together at Skyland Lodge, in the Shenandoah National Park. In fact, they lived there as well. The restaurant offered lodgings to the wait staff, so they didn’t have to leave the park so late at night. The witness said that William was a quiet person and didn’t socialize much. He was okay with his customers, but every now and then they would complain that he forgot something about their order. When asked if they thought William was using drugs, the witness said that they couldn’t be sure. But they said that they recognized the backpack that the FBI had found. They had seen him with it many times before at the restaurant.
Is this a criminal or civil case and would it be tried in a state or federal court?
