Semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries are just two of several technologies that will be critical to the U.S. economy in the future. Emerging manufacturing technologies will continue to change the nature of manufacturing while affecting our lives and opening new career opportunities.
Step 1:

Through online research, identify an emerging manufacturing technology, not including semiconductors or lithium-ion batteries, that is changing how manufacturing is done and/or the products it produces.

Step 2:

Describe what the emerging technology is, how it works, who is using it, and how widely it has been deployed.

Step 3:

Estimate the impact of the emerging technology on manufacturing, on the economy, and on society as a whole.

Step 4:

Imagine how the world might change once this emerging technology is pervasive. Write a description of how this might affect your life and your community.

Submission Requirements
Write a 2- to 4-page report in which you:

identify one emerging manufacturing technology
list characteristics of that technology, including what it is, how it works, who is using it, and how widely it is being used
describe the impact of the emerging technology on manufacturing, the economy, and society; and
write a description of how the emerging technology may affect your life and your community.
